The calendar may say that Friday (September 22) is the first day of autumn, but it seems that nobody told the weather. The Sioux Empire is ending a hot week with a very hot day. And the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for parts of eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota and Iowa until 6:00 PM Friday.

* TEMPERATURE...Highs in the low to mid 90s will combine with high
humidities to bring heat indices into the upper 90s pushing 100
  degrees.

* IMPACTS...Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible,
especially athletes and those working outdoors. Those with
outdoor plans will want to stay well hydrated this afternoon and
evening, with summer-like conditions for much of the area.

It could even be a record breaking day.
