In a vote held Thursday morning (April 18), The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has awarded a casino license to develop the Hard Rock brand in downtown Sioux City, Iowa.

The $118.5 million project is planned on 16 acres at Fourth and Water streets in downtown Sioux City, incorporating the historic Battery Building.

The casino will replace the Argosy Sioux City riverboat.

Plans include a 32,000-square-foot casino floor, 800 slot machines, 32 table games,  60-room hotel, 800-seat theater, 1,000 parking spaces.

The project is expected to create 500 casino and hotel jobs.
