Harry Connick Jr. Is Probably Going to Be the Third ‘American Idol’ Judge
After months of speculation, looks like the final judging seat on ‘American Idol‘ has been filled — by Harry Connick Jr.
A show insider told the Hollywood Reporter that Connick will join returning judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the panel for the upcoming 13th season. And since he’s served as a guest mentor several times previously and always seems to offer the contestants cogent and relevant guidance, he’ll likely be a popular choice.
Assuming he actually has been hired, it’ll bring to a close seemingly endless media hype over who exactly would round out the panel. Just last week, songwriter and producer Dr. Luke was supposedly a lock, but had to drop out because of label conflicts (he’s part of Sony Music and rival Universal Music Group has the rights to ‘Idol’ recordings). Then the guy we can blame for unleashing Justin Bieber on the world, manager Scooter Braun, was up for consideration, but he declined the gig.
No official confirmation from either Connick or from Fox, but on Friday, ‘Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest did hint that an announcement was imminent …
Got some @AmericanIdol news for you coming very soon…
