It was a busy day in Hartford, SD.  Firefighters and emergency crews from Hartford, Sioux Falls, Humboldt and Minnehaha county were involved.  Here is the latest from the Argus Leader:

An early morning fire heavily damaged the second floor of a two-story home in Hartford Sunday. Police also arrested a man for pulling a knife on officers at the same address the same day. Crews from Hartford, Sioux Falls, Humboldt and Minnehaha county emergency management responded to the structure fire at 4:46 a.m.
It took approximately 15 minutes for firefighters to get the blaze under control.
The four occupants in the home were awoken by the smell of smoke, said Podd Lowe with the Hartford Fire Department.
All four occupants made it out safely, Lowe said.
Lowe said the occupants did have smoke detectors, but they weren't properly working because the batteries were taken out.  The fire is believed to have started in the ceiling of the first floor and extended to the second, said Lowe.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No suspicious activity was found and the fire is believed to have been accidental.

Later on that afternoon a man was taken into police custody after pulling a knife out of his pocket during interaction with officers, according to Sgt. Pete Jaros of the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office.
Police responded to a family dispute at 26345 463rd Ave. – the same residence where the fire occurred - around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.  As deputies tried to take Kim Halverson into custody, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and displayed it to officers, Jaros said.  Halverson then turned and ran, surrendering to the officers about 26 minutes later, according to Jaros.
Halverson was taken to the Minnehaha County Jail and lodged for simple assault domestic, aggravated assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest charges.  Jaros said Halverson is a resident of the home that caught fire earlier Sunday morning.  South Dakota Highway Patrol officers assisted the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office.
