This year, Halloween falls on a Monday. Leading up to the big day on October 31st, there are plenty of haunted houses and other Halloween events planned throughout the Sioux Empire. We're going to help you find the best Halloween events and attractions in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. We'll continue to update this page when new events get announced.
Sioux Falls Jaycees Haunted House
October 13, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27 - 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 - 7:00 PM - Midnight
October 30 (Sunday) 2:00 - 4:00 PM - Kids Day. A less scary haunted house just for kids.
Halloween - 7:00 PM - until the crowd dies
Located at the Fine Arts Building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Tickets are $10 per person or $8 with a canned good. For $15 per person or $13 with canned good, see Emily's closet and the Sioux Falls Haunted House. Fast passes are available for an additional $5 on Fridays and Saturdays and on Halloween.
Twisted Nightmare Haunted House

Twisted Nightmare is a haunted house that is brought to you by the talent of your local Fraternal Order of Police. The haunted attraction is a fundraiser for the FOP and a local food bank. Twisted Nightmare will hit the streets of Sioux Falls at 2601 S Carolyn Ave, just to the East of I-29 and south of Century Theatres. Admission is $7 or $6 with a canned food donation.

Fear Asylum in Brookings was ranked #1 haunted house in South Dakota. Visit the chilling mental institution setting and you're sure to scream your head off. Over-the-top detail, movie-quality costumes, and uncanny effects that work together to intensify this bone-chilling experience. Located at 216 W. 6th Street in Brookings. VIP tickets are $30 and general admission is $16.

Sunday, October 30, 2016 - 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.Kids will wind their way through the decorated exhibits and walkways in the Zoo collecting candy and trinkets at a variety of treat tents from costumed presenters. Along the path of over 300 hand-carved and lit Jack-o'-lanterns, visitors dressed as their favorite superheroes or movie characters will pass the Extinct Species Graveyard and see the markers for animals like the Dodo Bird and Caspian Tiger. Other highlights include the Creepy Carousel and the "Hall of Flames," featuring the most intricate, hand-carved pumpkins. $5 for Zoo members and $7 for non-members.
Heartland Country Haunted Corn Maze
Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM.
Bring your flashlights and try to find your way through the maze in the dark of night. Admission is $8. Children 10 and under pay $5.
Teen Zombie Lock-In

Located at the Siouxland Libraries, downtown branch, 200 North Dakota Ave. in Sioux Falls. Help, Zombies are coming to the library! A night of scares, books, and prizes. Dress in your zombie best and explore make up techniques to get your scare ready. Compete in a zombie scavenger hunt to see if you will be the last human standing.
Olde Towne Theater Haunted House

Brandon Edge Halloween Party

This FREE event is open to all ages and will be held in the wood and tile gyms at Brandon Elementary. Kids are highly encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes as there will be a photo area for family pictures. In addition, there will be numerous games, tons of candy, delicious apples, and the ever popular Haunted House!
Spook and Splash

The new Midco Aquatic Center at 1601 S. Western Ave. is hosing a Spook and Splash. There will be pumpkin tossing, bobbing for apples, prizes and more. Come wearing your suit and jump into the fun! Participants will need to have a valid swim pass or pay the daily admission fee to attend the events. No registration required. Daily admission fees are $3 for children ages 2-17, $4 for ages 18-54 and $3 for 55+. Under age 2 is free.
Halloween Costume Party

Trick or Treat Trail Run

A 5K run/walk and 10K run at Pasley Park, just south of 26th and Southeastern along the bike trail. Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged. Costumes are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded. There will be a candy dash for kids 3-10 at 9:30 AM.
Trick or Treat Trails

Dress in your favorite costume and head over to Big Sioux Recreation Area to trick or treat along the decorated path. Bring a flashlight for an extra treat of finding the hidden reflective signs along the trail. Great for the WHOLE family.
Sioux Falls Zombie Walk

The most anticipated Halloween event of the year. This year's Zombie Walk will start at ICON Lounge. Zombie makeup will be at Icon Lounge from 12:00 - 4:00 PM and cost $5 to become an undead horror. Registration for the parade runs from 11:00 AM - 4:30 PM and costs $3, kids 12 and under are free. Register your float online for $30.
Proceeds benefit Be-a-Lifesaver, an organization aimed at suicide awareness and prevention in teens and young adults.
This event is not exclusively for the walking dead. The parade is open to ANYONE who wants to come down in costume and precede the zombies in the Halloween Parade. The goal is to make this parade an annual event the whole community can enjoy.
