It’s a revisit of the west end of 41st Street at Ellis Road.  A crucial Sioux Falls street construction project remains on schedule.

As it takes shape, the west end will be looking much different than it did before.  The grade will be much lower at the intersection.  The new pavement and grading will be used very soon.  In fact, the City of Sioux Falls sent out a statement about the traffic pattern starting after Labor Day.

"Starting Tuesday, September 2, 2014, the west half of 41st Street and Ellis Road will be closed to traffic. The closure is part of the 41st Street Reconstruction Project from Ellis Road to Sertoma Avenue.

41st Street traffic and traffic to the Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill will be detoured along Highway 17, 12th Street, and Sertoma Avenue.

Traffic at Ellis Road will be open to northbound and southbound traffic only.  Work in the west half of the intersection will require the closure for approximately six weeks."

A trip out to the landfill just got longer for many residents and garbage haulers.  The entire project is still projected to be finished in November of 2014.
