How Did You Come Up With A Name?
Babies start off with a clean slate, so what you choose as a name for your little one reveals more about your personality than theirs. But they have to live with it.
Do you use these as idea starters?
- Religious name
- Family name
- Old Fashion name
- Celeb baby name
- Unusual name or creative spelling on an often used name
- Pop culture name
- Name a baby after a destination
- Unisex name
People do draw conclusions based on someone's name. It sends out such a strong signal before the person even walks into the room.
It is not uncommon for someone to change their name in radio and operate under an alias. Then, in some cases, you get to pick out a cool name. Sometimes it's picked for you. When I was 19 and got my first job in the Sioux Falls market I had a boss who changed my name from Brad Peterson to Jay Livingston.
So how do you make sure you choose wisely? Some experts say, when deciding on a name, you want to see it from the child's point of view and how she or he will have to live with it throughout their lives. Do you agree with that POV?
Now here's another interesting slant, a friend's wife had their baby girl last night and they still hadn’t come up with a name they both liked and everyone is patiently waiting. So how did you come up with a name for your baby? Did you have a few chosen & then once you saw him/her-figured out which one fit the best?
