A cold front is expected to bring cold and snow back to the Sioux Empire Thursday. Plan on a snowy drive home Thursday evening.

The snow will begin in south central South Dakota early Thursday morning, then gradually spread east through the day. Most of the snow accumulation will occur between noon and midnight, with at least light accumulations expected in most locations by the evening commute. Brisk north winds will accompany the snow, and areas of blowing snow will further impact travel on Thursday. Sharply colder temperatures should also be anticipated with this system, with expected wind chill readings Thursday afternoon averaging 30 to 40 degrees colder than today.
