I'm always a little surprised at the research projects people choose to fund.

There's one out now that says "The Key to a Happy Marriage is if the Wife is Happy."

Really? We actually needed to spend money to figure that out?

Call me crazy, but isn't it fairly obvious it takes both the husband and the wife to be happy, for the marriage to be harmonious and reach its full potential?

I guess we needed science to validate the old cliche dads tell their sons on their wedding day, "Happy wife, happy life."

I can't think of many marriages where the woman is going to be content with her hubby barking out commands like "get me a beer" or "make me a sandwich" on a daily basis and everything will be all hunky dory around the homestead long term.

As you know, there are so many different ingredients that go into a successful marriage. But there's no denying that "happiness" is paramount for any marriage having a prayer of long lasting staying power.

According to this new study out of Rutgers University, they say the biggest key to a happy marriage is how happy the woman is. If she's happy, her husband tends to be happier too.

If she's unhappy, chances are that her husband will tend to walk around like a miserable slug as well. It's very rare that there's a couple where the husband is satisfied and happy in the marriage and his wife isn't.

When the wife is satisfied with the marriage, she tends to do a lot more for her husband, which in turn has a positive effect on his life and the overall happiness of their marriage according to the research.

What do you think?
