A 55-year-old man died Monday January 2, 2017 just before 9:00 PM in a one-vehicle crash south of Brookings and icy roads appear to have contributed to the crash.

Where:  Interstate 29, mile marker 129, two miles south of Brookings, S.D.
When:   8:56 PM Monday, Jan. 2, 2017
Driver: Male, 55, Fatal Injuries, name not released pending relative notification
Vehicle: 2006 Chevy Silverado Pickup

According to Tony Mangan with the South Dakota Department of Safety provided additional details:

 

A 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup was northbound on Interstate 29 when the vehicle left the ice-covered roadway, entered the median and rolled. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, Brookings Police Department, Brookings Fire Department and Brookings EMS.

The person’s name is not being released pending notification of family members.
