There are so many 'national' holidays it's hard to keep track. I don't know where some of them started or how people remember them. Just the other day I found out it was National Pizza Day because of a hashtag on Twitter, but without social media, how would I have known to eat pizza that day?

Anyway, November 16 is National Fast Food Day.

America loves fast food. Drive in and drive through meals date back all the way to the 1910s. They became even more popular when automobiles became more affordable.

White Castle is credited with starting the fast food trend. The first White Castle in 1916 had a limited menu, high-volume, low-cost, high-speed hamburger restaurant format that was soon duplicated everywhere.

According to nationaldaycalendar.com, the United States has the largest fast food industry in the world.  American fast food restaurants are located in over 100 countries.

If you want a national holiday that is a little more figure friendly, then you will be happy to know that today is also National Button Day! This holiday dates back to 1938, the National Button Society recognized button collecting as an organized hobby.

Remember, if you celebrate any of these National Holidays to use the appropriate hashtag on social media. If it's not online then it didn't happen.

Go out for some fast food and use #NationalFastFoodDay or use #NationalButtonDay to post on social media!
