Imagine finding your dream house, moving in and then discovering your home used to be a serial killer's torture chamber.

No, it's not the plot line to a new Criminal Minds episode, it's what happened recently to a Missouri woman.

Catrina McGhaw signed a lease for a house in Ferguson, Missouri in March. She thought it was just a nice, normal little suburban home outside of St. Louis. Not so much!

One of McGhaw's friends was watching the show "Cold Case Files" on A&E last month, and called Catrina to tell her to turn on the show immediately, because the episode was about a serial killer who used to live in Catrina's house!

The serial killers name was Maury Travis. While living in the house Travis kidnapped and tortured at least 12 women and killed them in the basement of the house. Hearing news like that will make think twice about watching a horror film in the basement family room late at night I'd say.

Travis was apprehended in 2002 and killed himself in prison.

To make matters worse, McGhaw's landlord is Travis' mother, Sandra Travis. According to McGhaw, Sandra Travis failed to tell her what happened in the house. Naturally McGhaw wanted out of her lease, but Travis wouldn't let her.

McGhaw finally went to the St. Louis Housing Authority, who convinced Travis that she should let McGhaw out of the lease by the end of this month.
