Another day, another road construction project gets done early. Traffic in Downtown Sioux Falls just got better.

East 11th Street and South Second Avenue is now open. The barricades went up on April 27 and just over a month later came removal.

According to the City of Sioux Falls, the construction project was completed 11 working days early. Multiple reasons led to the shorter duration of construction such as the weather, the contractor and financial incentives offered by the City.

In a press release City Engineer Chad Huwe explains, “Financial incentives are one tool the City uses to encourage timely completion of high-impact projects. The City wanted to do everything possible to expedite this project due to its impact on downtown businesses and traffic.”

The bonus is significant. D & G Concrete Construction, Inc., of Sioux Falls, gets an incentive payment of $30,000 for the early completion of this construction project.
