I recently ran across an odd entry in the "Big Book of Stuff." Every March 30th is designated Grass is Always Browner On the Other Side of the Fence Day.

It's a day set aside each year when we're all suppose to take inventory on our life, appreciate what we have and stop dwelling on what we don't have.

My Grandpa used to always say, "You know why the grass is sometimes greener on the other side of the fence don't you? Because they use more fertilizer."

Remember that the next time you covet someone else's "stuff." There may be more to the story than you realize. You don't know what it took for them to get to where they are.

Sometimes it boils down to they may have worked harder than you. Or maybe they were in the right place at the right time, or born into a particular family.

Remember those early class reunions we attended when everyone was trying to impress everyone else? - what a complete waste of time and energy.

Thankfully, you reach a point in your life (hopefully) when you finally accept who you are, what you have and realize you don't need to impress anyone.

Years ago when I would hear my parents, say, "With age comes wisdom," I would roll my eyes and think to myself, "Whatever. I may be only 22 but I know A LOT."

What a stupid and ignorant young man I was. My folks were right - with age DOES come wisdom. For some of us though it takes a little longer to accept that fact.

I truly believe that the real secret to being happy in life is to be content with who you are, what you have - and thank the good Lord everyday!

Some of us have a lot of money, some of us don't. Some have good looks, some don't. Some of us have a glamorous job, some of us don't. It doesn't matter.

It's like that old saying we've heard hundreds of times - it's doesn't matter how big your bank account is or what you drive for a car. What really matters is family and friends!

If you're surrounded by a loving family and loyal friends - you're already rich beyond your wildest dreams. Be happy with who you are and what you have.

Plus, remember this - our graves are all the same size when we die and we all leave this Earth with the same amount.
