When Ma and Pa Brown were deciding on names for their newborn in 1970 (me), they tossed around Myra Jean and Jennifer Lee.

My mom was a huge fan of the soap opera 'General Hospital,' and at the time one of the characters was named Karla (or maybe Carla).  Mom liked that name and it stuck. They named me Karla Renee.

So, what's in a name?  I had to look up the definition of 'Karla.'  According to First Name Meanings.com:

Karla is an independent woman for whom freedom is much more than just a seven-letter word!   She's an individualist who loathes restriction, is fascinated by the unknown and can often be undisciplined, taking risks without considering the potential consequences of her actions.

To be honest, that really doesn't describe me, but at least my name isn't on the worst-behaved baby names list.

Here's a list of the top names of babies born at Sanford Health in 2014.  According to the worst and best-behaved names, I don't think juvenile hall will be overflowing in the coming years.  We have some pretty well-behaved names being raised in the Sioux Empire.
