All this week people in South Dakota are encouraged to 'Share a Lunch to Fight Hunger.'

To look around a community like Sioux Falls you might not initially think that many people go to bed hungry each night, but you'd be wrong.

Over 21,000 individuals receive food and assistance through Feeding South Dakota each week. To illustrate just how severe the problem is right here in the Sioux Empire, on Thursday, June 9, 2016, alone, one hundred and sixty-five people, came through the doors of the Sioux Falls Food Pantry. That according to Debbie Renner, Development Associate of Feeding South Dakota.

That is why from now through Friday, June 17, 2016, people all over the area are encouraged to give the cost of a lunch to Feeding South Dakota. The cost of one $10.00 lunch will help provide 50 meals.

An initiative like this one is so very important, especially during this time of the year, when schools are out, but parents are still working. It can be difficult to ensure that children are receiving proper and thorough nutrition.
