Moderate temperatures and a strong lineup from start to finish had concert goers of all ages, shapes and sizes coming to Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls July 18-20 for JazzFest 2013. So many people streamed in, that officials say they total attendance matched last years record crowd of 125,000 over the three day festival.

Organizers also believe that Saturday night's headliner, Sheryl Crow, outdrew last year's headliner Joe Walsh.

We touted this lineup for months, and for good reason. It was possibly the most solid lineup of music acts in the 22 year history of the festival.

Strong second stage acts including the Spooncat reunion and the Blues Bashers, to main stage headliners Crow, the North Mississippi All Stars and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John had people coming out in force.

Possibly the favorite act of the weekend though was the band that kicked off the festival Thursday night: Kansas City Blues band Trampled Under Foot, who continued to get rave reviews throughout the weekend. Scott Holt Band, Chubby Carrier, Mingo Fishtrap and Doyle Bramhall II also got great, positive feedback from the people in attendance.

It was very satisfying to see all the shows in Sioux Falls on Saturday do so well. There were many complaints from people that three big shows were all on the same night (in addition to Crow, Country music star Tim McGraw played to a sold out crowd of 12,000 at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds, while classic rockers REO Speedwagon entertained a sold out crowd of 5000 at Grand Falls Casino. An estimated 90,000+ were in Yankton Trail Park to hear Crow sing her hits and songs from her latest release.

Mark your calendars now for July 17-19, 2014 for the 23rd annual JazzFest, presented by Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society.
