Jonghyun’s Posthumous Album Debuts on Billboard 200
A posthumous album from South Korean singer Jonghyun debuted this week on the Billboard 200.
The K-pop star's album Poet | Artist appeared at No. 177 on the chart ending Feb. 3 following its release Jan. 23. The album earned 5,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 26, 4,000 of which were traditional album sales.
In addition, Poet | Artist ranks No. 1 on the Billboard World Albums chart ending Feb. 3. Jonghyun previously topped the chart with his debut solo EP, Base, in 2015.
"I am broken from inside," the singer said in a note released after his death.
Jonghyun, who came to fame with the boy band SHINee, was absent from the In Memoriam reel Sunday at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment and honor the K-pop star.
"To others it may seem like unrealistic thinking but I really hoped the Grammys would have included Jonghyun in their annual memoriam. The amount of people he touched with his music, the amount of talent he possessed, & the career he had the acknowledgement was beyond deserved," one person tweeted.
"Jonghyun should've been included for the Memoriam segment. He matters just as much as the other artists who left us in 2017. #Grammys," another person wrote.
