Consider it one of the biggest disappointments of the year. UFC 189 will have a different main event following an injury to Jose Aldo.

Aldo was forced to pull out of the fight following an injury to his ribs. The main event has now been switched to Conor McGregor vs. Chad Mendes for the Interim UFC Featherweight Championship.

Aldo vs. McGregor was one of the most anticipated UFC fights in recent history. McGregor immediately got in the face of Aldo following a win against Dennis Silver at UFC Fight Night 59. The two continued to verbally jab each other over the last few months. McGregor, at one point, even stole Aldo's Featherweight title at a press conference.

If McGregor is able to secure the Interim title, the two would be on the verge of meeting again in the future.

UFC 189 takes place on Saturday, July 11 at 9:00ct on pay-per-view. The card features:

UFC Interim Featherweight Championship
Conor McGregor vs. Chad Mendes

UFC Welterweight Championship
Robbie Lawler (c) vs. Rory MacDonald

Dennis Bermudez vs. Jeremy Stephens

Gunnar Nelson vs. Brandon Thatch

Brad Pickett vs. Thomas Almeida
