Oh Canada!

Ancestry.com, a family tree resource, has discovered that the country's national treasure Justin Bieber is distantly related to fellow pop stars like Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion, as well as actor Ryan Gosling. They are all connected via settlers of the province of Quebec, and their ties date back 400 years. That's quite a supremely talented family lineage right there.

You know what that means, right? Time for a Bieber/Dion/Lavigne duet, with Gosling starring in or directing the video.

Here's how the family ties break down.

Biebs and Gosling are 11th cousins, once removed, while he and Lavigne are 12th cousins. Common relatives were born in France in the 1600s and who migrated to Quebec . Biebs and Dion are 10th cousins, three times removed, connected in similar fashion.

While all these breakdowns, numerics and removals are confusing, don't waste time worrying about that. There's some impressive DNA linkage among some of the biggest entertainers from our neighbor to the north.

Maybe the Biebs and Gosling could team up for a movie. The Biebs has long expressed his interest in acting, but it's never quite happened (save for a few guest appearances on shows like 'CSI'), despite having some irons in that fire. Now that it has been revealed that he has an Oscar nominee in his distant family, perhaps he can use that to his advantage.
