I've been at the radio station for 22 years, so I've accumulated a lot of vacation. I take a day here and there and rarely do anything fun. The last time I took a full week of vacation all at once was when we had to take an unpaid sabbatical in 2009.

Whenever I have a doctor's appointment, I take a full day off and try to get a few things done around my apartment or run some errands. Wednesday (May 3) was one of those days off where I just wanted to be lazy.

Here's my day off in 5 pictures.

My day started with a trip to the doctor for my annual physical. I look pretty good on paper, except for that ONE number. My doctor basically told me to get acquainted with the bike trail this summer.

After my appointment I met my sister and a friend for lunch at Rosie's Cafe. The specials today were chicken and dressing, liver and onions and salisbury steak. I chose the hot beef sandwich. Oh my goodness. I almost licked the plate. That gravy is so good. I had a root beer, hot beef and a piece of pecan pie (don't tell my doctor) and the bill was just over $10. Crazy!

After lunch, I was so full and tired that I came home and took a two hour nap on the couch. I've had this same couch since 1993. It might be ugly, but it is so comfortable. By the way, I made the afghan on the couch. I've made three afghans. Each one takes about 12 years to finish.

I had an appointment at 3:30 PM to get a rock chip fixed in my windshield. When I got there, they weren't able to fix it because it had been raining and apparently the chip needs to be dry for 2-3 hours. So, since I was up and off the couch, I decided to get a treat at Stensland's Ice Cream Shop. After today, I will limit my creamy treats to one a month.

I got home, put on my pajamas (yes, at 4:30 PM) and relaxed on the couch by watching my favorite reruns, looking at Facebook and writing some stories for the Mix website. At 6:00 PM, it was time for my favorite Wednesday night TV show, In the Kitchen with David on QVC. I rarely miss a Wednesday episode and I record Sunday's show if I'm not going to be home to watch it. Surprisingly, I've only bought a few items from the show - a can opener and a stock pot with strainer.

I still have a basket full of clothes to fold from Saturday, but I enjoyed my lazy day off.
