Yeah, we got it, royal PR firm. Our lovely Kate is having a baby. That news is so last year. So why the new announcement?

It turns out that the royal family didn’t get to make their big, formal announcement because poor Kate Middleton ended up in the hospital needing treatment for acute morning sickness before she and Prince William (rap name: P. Willy) were ready to tell the world.

But because royals like their formalities, an official announcement has been released. This time we get to hear the due date – as if we didn't have enough fingers to deduce that ourselves.

A Palace spokesperson said, “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July.”

The statement also indicated that “the Duchess’s condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month.”

The one thing this News of the Obvious does do is put to rest all those "ZOMG TWINS" rumors that have been flying around. We are to assume that since the official announcement refers to the couple expecting a “baby,” there’s probably just one bouncing around in there.

Or are they being cheeky? We’ll find out in July. Or when the Palace makes the official birth announcement sometime in September or October.
