Kevin Garnett has played his final game in the NBA.

KG announced on Friday that he would be retiring from the NBA at the age of 40 after 21 seasons in the league.

The belief has been that the new regime was looking to push Garnett out to open a roster spot for a young player to be developed and to move on from the past.

LA Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said on Saturday that KG did have a roster spot with the Clippers but that he had wanted to retire.

Garnett had one year left on his deal with the Wolves and since they waived him, he will be able to collect his $8 million dollar salary.

In his career, he played for the Timberwolves, Celtics and Nets.

Over his 21 season in the NBA, Garnett averaged 17.8 points, 10 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
