A snappy graphic map compiled by Direct Capital shows that the most Googled product in South Dakota is Kleenex. Wait...what?

Some states product searches make sense, such as Minnesota searches Target, which is the home office of the retail giant. Iowans search John Deere the most, Wisconsinites love their Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, while Floridians Google Disney the most.

But Kleenex for South Dakotans? Although the map hints at consumption habits in each state, here's a few possible reasons:

  • The sorrowful start to Packers and Vikings football season.
  • High dust and pollen count keeps our faces puffy.
  • Just noticed the homeowners insurance deductible for new roof after hail damage.
  • Kleenex (Kimberly-Clark) makes Depends®...and our corn mazes are really friggin' scary.
  • We don't like to admit it, but us bikers like a soft lotion infused tissue after a hot Sturgis Rally.
