Sears Holdings announced Tuesday that the Kmart stores in Mitchell and Pierre, South Dakota will be closing in the spring. The company said the stores will begin a liquidation sale on Jan. 24, 2016 and will maintain their regular hours, and close in mid-April.

As for other South Dakota Kmart stores, there are no plans to close any other ones at this time. The company is shutting down around 120 Sears and Kmart stores nationwide to reduce expenses as it changes it business model.
