Is Lady Gaga really gaga for LiLo?

We had heard that Lady Gaga was recruiting her summer sleepover buddy Lindsay Lohan for a music video down the road, but as for making actual music together? That's the latest rumor.

A while back -- 2004, actually -- La Lohan did release an album called 'Speak' on Casablanca Records, and it did respectably OK. She was supposed to do a follow up, but like her acting career, it stalled. Everything went on the backburner and the only music LiLo was involved in was a friendly "reference" on Pitbull's 'Give Me Everything.' She even sued him over the "negative" comment.

A source told E! that Ma Monster and the beleaguered actress, who earned scathing reviews from critics over her performance as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime TV movie 'Liz & Dick,' are working on new music and that they "have become good friends. They talk and text all the time."

They also tweet. Gaga sent a note of support and encouragement to LiLo for her performance after the film aired over the weekend.

Gaga tweeted the following note to her pal:

@lindsaylohan you did a beautiful job on Liz & Dick, Let no one bring u down, Liz didnt, they always try to knock the greats down a few pegs.

A tweet of love and encouragement from Lady Gaga can certainly take the sting off the critical barbs.

PopCrushers, would you like to see Gaga work with LiLo on music? Or should that never happen?
