Lady Gaga, arguably the new Queen of Pop (sorry Madonna!), dropped tons of cash on 55 items that were once owned by the late Michael Jackson, aka the King of Pop. But don't expect Gaga to incorporate any of the newly acquired pieces into her Born This Way Ball costumes or stage production. That would be either really cool or totally blasphemous. Instead, Ma Monster is preserving them for posterity ... for now.

According to The Associated Press, Gaga dropped hundreds of thousands on the items, which were from the collection of Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, Jackson's longtime costume designers.

Gaga tweeted a picture of herself with a sequined glove-wearing hand and her auction paddle, as well.

She also tweeted to let Jackson fans the world over know that she will treat the pieces with the utmost respect and care, posting:

The 55 pieces I collected today will be archived & expertly cared for in the spirit & love of Michael Jackson, his bravery, & fans worldwide

A jacket Jackson wore on the 'Bad' tour raked in $240,000. Also, a pair of his famous gloves, which were crystal-encrusted, went under the hammer for more than $100,000 each. The auction of stage costumes raised around $5 million.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Guide Dogs of America, as well as Nathan Adelson Hospice of Las Vegas.
