'Girls' power! Lena Dunham, star and creator of 'Girls,' has nabbed her first 'Saturday Night Live' hosting gig.

The actress and writer will host the March 8 episode. It was only a matter of time before Dunham, who is the epitome of the smart, funny girl who sidesteps glam, was recruited to host the show.

No, her BF, guitarist Jack Antonoff of fun., will not serve as the musical guest. Indie rock group The National will fill that role, according to E!

Given Dunham's penchant for putting herself "out" there, this should make a great episode.

She tweeted her excitement about the gig.

We wonder if she'll address that whole Vogue photo retouching controversy in her monologue. Or maybe Lorne Michaels can get Sarah Jessica Parker, whose 'Sex and the City' character Carrie Bradshaw is somewhat of a foil to Dunham's Hannah Horvath, to crash her monologue. That might be too out there, but hey, we can write fan fiction-style 'SNL' monologues if we want. Plus, this has been the season of crashed monologues, like this one.

'SNL' returns to active duty (aka new episodes) this Saturday, March 1, after a brief Olympics hiatus. 'The Big Bang Theory' star Jim Parsons will host, while '90s alt rocker Beck will turn up as musical guest.

But be sure to make an iPhone calendar entry/alarm so you don't miss Dunham on 'SNL' on March 8.
