The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center received its first instant classic game hosting state basketball tournaments as two city rivals fought for the right to go to the championship game.

The nightcap between O'Gorman and Lincoln proved to be as exciting as anticipated. O'Gorman jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the early parts of the 1st quarter. Lincoln countered back taking a 16-11 lead after one. Both teams struggled to score in the 2nd quarter, with a 9-7 advantage for Lincoln giving them a 25-18 lead at the half.

It was the Braxton Elliott show for the O'Gorman Knights in the second half that helped spark the comeback. Elliott finished the game with 35 points, and six rebounds. O'Gorman outscored Lincoln 19-16 in the third, and 14-10 in the fourth to secure the tie at the end of regulation.

Both teams were only able to score five points from the free throw line, sending the game to double overtime at 56-56. It wasn't until the second overtime that the shots started to fall. Lincoln managed to pull ahead by six and never looked back defeating O'Gorman 69-66 in double overtime.

In the first semifinal contest, Sioux Falls Washington powered forward in the second half to secure a 65-43 over Rapid City Stevens. Washington outscored Rapid City Stevens 33-14 in the second half after a highly contest opening half. Deng Geu led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Cole Benson added 18 and also eight rebounds. Washington as a team shot 68% from the floor.

Washington and Lincoln will now meet for the Class AA State Boys Basketball Championship tomorrow night at 8:00. It will be the fourth meeting this season between the Washington and Lincoln with Washington winning the previous three.
