Good news for those that might be doing some traveling!  According to the Trilby Lundberg survey released on Sunday, September 21, 2014, the average price of a gallon of gas in the United States has fallen by 9 cents in the past two weeks.

The survey says that the average price of a gallon of regular grade gasoline in the United States is about $3.37.

The price drop is partially due to crude oil prices continuing to fall.  But the survey also says that refiners and ethanol are also helping to contribute to declining prices. Many refiners are already shifting to a winter-blend gasoline, which is a cheaper fuel to make.  Lower prices in ethanol, which refiners use to blend into gasoline, is also causing lower prices at the pumps.

SouthDakotaGasPrice.com is saying that the national average is even below what the Lundberg survey is saying.  The website has the national average at $3.33 per gallon with a South Dakota average of $3.31.

Sioux Falls' lowest gas price recorded by SouthDakotaGasPrice.com over the past 60 hours was $2.92 per gallon at Costco on 3700 S. Grange Avenue.  Cenex on W. 12th and S. Jefferson is reporting $2.97 a gallon and the Freedom on W.12th and S. Williams is also at $2.97.
