Our news gathering partner KDLT TV is reporting that seven employees at a hog breeding facility in Luverne, Minnesota have been suspended after a video surfaced showing the workers allegedly mistreating animals.

The employees work for Christensen Farms that is one of the largest pork producers in the United States.

The video was taken undercover by an animal activist group called Last Chance for Animals.

LCA Campaign Director Nina Hauptman says the video was taken to expose the breeding facility for what she says can only be described as “multiple incidents of systematic cruelty and neglect.”

"Factory farms in general just turned into a cruelty machine in many ways and we want to expose that to the people. We want people to realize that this is the reality behind pork."

The video was recorded during a four month undercover investigation earlier this year at a Christensen Farms breeding facility just east of Sioux Falls in Luverne, Minnesota.

Shortly after the video's release, Christensen farms issued a statement saying seven employees have been suspended, and the company is conducting a full internal investigation.
