Like Kevin McCallister, Macaulay Culkin literally stays Home Alone during the holiday season.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres for an episode of her talkshow set to air Monday (April 23), the former child star revealed that every time Christmas comes around, he becomes a recluse, staying at home more and more frequently in an attempt to avoid over-excited Home Alone fans.

Calling his strategy "background radiation at Christmastime," Culkin, 37, told DeGeneres, "I definitely don’t [go out]. It’s my season."

"It's Macaulay season. I try to go out less and less around that time of year," he added, explaining that people will come up to him in the street and ask him to recreate the iconic Home Alone face from the film.

Culkin, who was just 10 years old when the John Hughes-produced comedy classic hit theaters in November 1990, also lamented getting recognized on the street.

"How can a person look too much like himself? It’s a curse and a blessing," he shared when the host remarked that his appearance hasn't changed much in the 28 years since the film was released. "I can get into any restaurant I want without a reservation, but while I’m there everyone’s staring at me, [going] 'awww.'"
