Okay, who's really to blame?

I recently read that if you are a lazy, unmotivated, adult, you should blame your parents for not kicking you in the butt when you were younger. Supposedly it was their job to make sure you stayed active and didn't veg out on the couch all day eating chips and watching TV.

Now today, I run across this new study that says when you marry a lazy slob, you also become a lazy slob yourself.

So let me see if I can get this straight. I marry a lazy woman. That means I too will become a lazy man, because I start to pick up her apathetic traits. So should I blame her parents then for me becoming lazy? It's all so confusing.

According to this study, when one person in a relationship has low self-control, the other person eventually follows. So basically, if you're with a person that eats like crap, never cleans, showers once a week, and wastes money, you will too.

The researchers that conducted the study looked at three types of couples. Ones where both people had a high level of self-control, ones where neither did, and finally, couples where only one person in the relationship did.

What they found was when only one person was responsible, the couple was just as bad about eating healthy and saving money as couples where no one was responsible. The main reason why, the person who's responsible is more likely to compromise and change.

The solution according to the researchers is to be more aware of your tendency to give in if you're the responsible one in the relationship. And if you're the lazy slob, try to compromise more.

Okay, great. My question is do I still blame her parents for all this?
