In the past when a person would get a strange pain, a raw throat, or an uncontrollable itch, they'd typically call up their doc and ask him or her what they think is wrong. Well, the times be a changing!

According to a new survey, 42% of people are now on the record as saying they ALWAYS Google their symptoms first before even thinking about seeing a doctor.

27% of people take it further, and rely on Google for a diagnosis. Then there's the 20% of people that take it even further than that, and believe their search results over what a doctor tells them.

Of the people that reported using the Internet to diagnose their symptoms, most said the main reason why is because it's much faster than having to wait for a doctor's appointment. Another common reason given was people wanted to see if their symptoms were even worth going to see a doctor.

I don't know about you, but whenever I Google my symptoms when I get sick, I always get a little freaked out. Inevitably my symptoms always seem to match something that isn't even remotely close to what is actually wrong with me. I start thinking I have Scurvy when I just have the sniffles.

By the way, the study found of the people who have diagnosed themselves, 42% say they have gotten it right. 58% wound up getting it wrong.

Let that be a lesson to you, just when you start thinking you're a doctor, there's a better chance that you probably just stayed at a Holiday Inn the night before.
