Mark Schilling, the long time director of the Mitchell Corn Palace, resigned late Monday evening due to findings in a state audit, according to the Mayor of Mitchell.

The findings have not been made public and Schilling says he has not seen the results which will be revealed on March 17.

Schilling says he stepped down because it's best for the city and it's time for a change.

The Mitchell Corn Palace is one of the state's top tourist attractions and for the past several years, has hosted concerts ranging from classic country, to Disney stars to the first ever Corn Palace Rock Fest a couple of weeks ago.

A replacement has not been named.
