The total completion of the Russell Street Expansion will not arrive until almost Thanksgiving.  With more lanes slated to open soon, it may feel like a holiday.  

The South Dakota Department of Transportation working jointly with the city of Sioux Falls announced in a press release that the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Russell Street will open Friday, September 26.

As a bonus, the eastbound lanes of Russell Street from West Avenue to Minnesota Avenue will also be opened to through traffic.

There will be some touch-up work needed so be prepared for occasional lane closures going both west and east between West Avenue and Minnesota for the duration of the project.  The two-year $18.3 million project will expand traffic to three lanes in both directions from Minnesota Avenue all the way to Interstate 29.
