If you talk to families active in 4-H programs at the South Dakota State Fair, they'd likely tell you a new building is way overdue as two thirds of the existing building are not usable.  Many exhibits and activities have been moved to other locations, while the youth dormitory is deemed unsafe.

That's where amazing South Dakotans are joining together to get a new building constructed, and saying goodbye to the existing 70 year old building.

The new Nordby Exhibit Hall for 4-H will be 49,000 square feet and include exhibit space, classrooms, a large kitchen for 4-H Special Foods competitions and a stage for the many 4-H activities that will take place there year-round.

Ground breaking is projected to start next spring, and if enough funds come in, the shell of the building could event be used at next year's State Fair.

Nearly $3.3 million of the $4 million goal has been raised.  American Bank & Trust recently donated $50,000 toward the project.  You can join in too by donating or calling the State Fair office at 605 274-3370.
