If there was one food you could eat that would keep you from dropping dead you would eat it, right?

Well, some new medical research by the New England Journal of Medicine shows people who ate a daily handful of nuts were much less likely to die than those who didn't eat nuts.

A 30-year U.S. study of more than 120,000 people found that compared to people who didn't eat nuts, those who ate a daily serving of any kind of nut were:

-20 per cent less likely to die from any cause
-29 per cent less likely to die from heart disease
-11 per cent less likely to die from cancer

All nuts are a great source of protein, healthy fats, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. And an extra added bonus, the nut eaters in the study were, on average, thinner.

So that's the deal. If you want to be healthy, you should be getting a daily dose of your favorite nuts. After all, have you ever seen a sick squirrel?
