New Warning about Marijuana from Doctors
One in five Americans now have legal access to marijuana, but according to a report from the American Academy of Pediatrics that doesn’t mean they should use it.
According to the report, when using marijuana, teens are particularly at risk because “their brains are still developing.”
“Their brains are still developing and marijuana can cause abnormal and unhealthy changes and put teens at risk for addition, depression and psychosis.”
It’s been found that a person’s brain continues to develop well into the early 20’s, raising concerns about short and long term effects.
Plus, the study points out, marijuana has changed over the past few decades making it more concentrated, thus increasing the risk of overdose and addiction.
As a result of the study, the group opposes ALL medical and recreational marijuana use for ALL kids – period.
And they say to those parents who occasionally use the drug in front of their kids – stop it!
