MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A Mitchell woman escaped serious injury when her vehicle crashed into Lake Mitchell over the weekend.

Authorities say 19-year-old Jessica Priem's pickup truck slid off an icy road Saturday morning, went down an embankment, hit a tree and went into the water. The front tires broke through the ice but Priem was able to climb out to safety.

The Daily Republic reports that Priem was taken to a hospital to be checked after complaining of a headache.
