‘Not My Gumdrop Buttons!’ Gingerbread House Builders Unite!
One of the really great things about Downtown Sioux Falls is, they're always thinking up something new and fun to get people involved with the city and with each other and this new holiday event is a perfect example!
The Great Gingerbread Build event is sponsored by Downtown Sioux Falls and the Sioux Falls Design Center. It is an opportunity for you to show off your amazing Gingerbread House building skills. You must be registered by Sunday, November 15, 2015, with designs and houses due on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Sioux Falls Design Center.
Sioux Falls Design Center will host an open house on Saturday, November 28, 2015 during which everyone's creations will be judged with awards going to Best in Show and People's Choice. The Gingerbread houses will be judged in four basic categories.
- Originality & creativity
- Overall appearance
- Difficulty
- Precision & neatness
Once judging is done the houses will moved to various stores downtown to be displayed through December 23, 2015. You can find construction guidelines, plus tips and hints (i.e. -don't use anything that could spoil in your frosting, like butter or eggs) by going to the Downtown Sioux Falls website.
