The O'Gorman Knights will be looking to make it back to the DakotaDome for the first time since 2010. Standing in their way is city rival Roosevelt.

Heading into the season the Knights had a lot of athletes, but not necessarily all "football players." Head coach Steve Kueter made it known that he would have to get his kids to mesh together as a football team. That has happened as the Knights went 7-2 during the regular season.

One of those losses was in their annual Dakota Bowl fundraiser against Roosevelt. The Rough Riders defeated the Knights 24-14. A lot has changed since that game. After starting the season 2-2, O'Gorman has won six straight games defeating their opponents by an average of just under 36 points per game.

"We opened up with Brandon, Roosevelt, and Washington. So we had a couple of knocks early on. The schedule got easier after that but we continued to get better each week." - Kueter

Roosevelt also finished the season 7-2, with losses against Brandon Valley and Washington. Quarterback Jett Thune is out for the rest of the season, and backup Torren Devericks has taken over. Kueter says that Devericks shows a lot of promise.

"I think he [Devericks] has done a great job. I always give credit to Kim Nelson. His quarterbacks, when Taryn got hurt Jett stepped in and now Torren for Jett, always do a great job. Great system and the kids always know what they're doing. He's looked good in the last couple of games." - Kueter.

Going into the semifinal game, O'Gorman is experiencing the late season injury bug but overall the team is fairly healthy.

"We lost Gunnar Sommervold during the Washington game to an ACL. Ryan Scholten has not played the last two weeks and I'm not sure on his status. Luke Fritsch has played with a bad ankle for two weeks but you know Luke just plays through it. I think everyone at this point of the year has a lot of players out." - Kueter

One of the players that the Knights have back though for this game against Roosevelt is Boston Bauer. Bauer missed Dakota Bowl due to injury, and so far he has rebounded very well.

"He's done a tremendous job. He broke that ankle in a summer camp and sat out the first four games. He has been getting better and better each week. He's worked really hard to get to where we are right now." - Kueter

The city rivalry between Roosevelt and O'Gorman has a long storied history. Kueter believes that another great chapter could be written.

"We've had so many great games against them. Seems like we always end up meeting in the semifinals or finals at some point. I see two evenly matched teams and think this is going to be one heck of a game." - Kueter

The Knights and Rough Riders kickoff from Howard Wood Field at 7:00. Coverage of the game will be on ESPN 99.1.
