Sioux Falls Fire Rescue inspectors will search for the cause of a fire Wednesday night at 2304 South Wayland Court.

Crews were called just after 11:30 PM, and the first units to arrive found smoke and flames coming from the lower level of the single-family home.

They got into the lower level and put the fire out in some 15 minutes despite high heat, heavy smoke and flames.

Everyone in the house got out before firefighters arrived, and a search confirmed all the residents were out, but fire crews searching the main floor found two cats had died of smoke inhalation.

One resident was injured before firefighters arrived, but he was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents, and the cause is not known.
