The Sioux City Journal is reporting that an Orange City, Iowa day care provider who pleaded guilty in the death of a 3-year old in her care in October 2013, has been sentenced to 100 years in prison and ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to the toddler's family.

Rochelle Sapp pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment resulting in death, and multiple counts of child endangerment.

Police investigators say Sapp became angry with the little girl when she was having problems taking off her coat. The reports say that Sapp then picked up the girl and slammed her to the ground, before calling the parents and telling them the 3-year old was hurt falling down the stairs.

The little girl was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital with a fractured skull and serious brain trauma. She passed away two days later. Sapp made statements confessing to causing the girl's injuries during questioning with detectives, to friends and in text messages.
