Sparks were literally flying on a major Sioux Falls street. As a power line touches ground on 41st Street.

Around 11:00 AM Friday morning, a power line came loose from its moorings and fell onto the roadway near the Western Mall. Observers at the scene witnessed a small fire on the street.

Power was subsequently shut off in the area affecting a small part of the grid. Xcel Energy reported around 230 customers were without electricity.

It is not immediately known what caused the line to drop to the ground. According to the Argus Leader, power was restored by approximately 12:15 PM.
