‘Glee’ Cast Allegedly Partied With Cory Monteith, But Also Tried to Help Curb His Addictions
The cast and crew of 'Glee' were always supportive of Cory Monteith in his struggle with addiction, but some sources hint that the pressures of fame and his co-stars may have also been a party to his partying.
A source close to Monteith told PEOPLE, "Fame was hard for him. It was something he knew he deserved but somehow he never quite knew how to handle."
Insiders close to the Fox hit explained that Monteith's co-stars likely helped him cope, but perhaps not in a healthy way. "They worked hard and partied hard. These aren't high school kids. They are adults who enjoyed the perks of fame."
Still, the 31-year-old star never exhibited any poor behavior on set, with one source telling the mag, "I never saw him come to work late, lose his temper, not know his line or argue with crew and castmates."
Meanwhile, sources told TMZ that the cast and crew actually tried to help Monteith with his recovery. They staged an intervention by means of an "open conversation," with a source saying, "It wasn't met with resistance ... He was always so grateful and aware of how fortunate he was."
The 'Glee' insider added, "The decision was to best help our friend. The needs of the show fell second to his well-being."
