This Friday marks the end of something very special. It is heartbreaking and joyous at the same time. My dear friend Brad Peterson is leaving Mix 97.3.

Brad is one extraordinary individual! He is one of the kindest, most generous, creative, hard-working, self-sacrificing, loving, persons; it has ever been my pleasure to know. Whether he was working on the Mix, sharing stories about the musicians and their songs, passing along local news and information, or imparting his knowledge and opinions about sports on our sister station, ESPN, he was golden!

Like most of us, his life has not always been smooth sailing. Relationship, health and family issues go hand-in-hand with existence on this planet; it’s just part of the deal. Brad simply handles it all much better than most people do. He’ll deny it, but he does.

He has a remarkable grace and kindness that seem to be rooted in something outside him. Something bigger than the problems and sorrows he has encountered. And if I were guessing, I would say it is his faith. He wears it like a badge of courage, which of course it is. But it isn’t just faith in God. It is faith in his family, (which he adores), his friends, (too numerous to count) and life turning out as it was meant to, which fill his soul with an inner light.

I will selfishly miss him at station events, where he was always so much fun! I will miss his warm smile, wonderful hugs and amazing shoulder rubs exactly when I seemed to need them. I will simply miss the quiet that his mere presence brought to my mind.

Keep the fire, Brad. You are loved!

Thy soul was like a star, and dwelt apart: So didst thou travel on life’s common way in cheerful godliness”
