Valentine’s Day is over, Singles Awareness Day is here. So how to celebrate?

Sometimes in a couple’s universe, it is hard to know what to do with yourself. Thankfully if a person has hobbies which warrant solitary pursuit, you’ll do just fine.

Just ask Kelly Clarkson, “it doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone!” (from her song- “Stronger”).  This statement is true, even though we almost certainly should dismiss advice from a girl who just recently got engaged.

Do I miss snuggling on the couch with a warm, smart, attractive man? Sometimes, late on a Friday or Saturday night, I do. Do I miss his underwear balled up in a corner of the bedroom? I do not. Do I miss bear hugs and soft kisses? I do. Being told I’m wrong in so many ways? Nope.

All these thoughts came to me this morning, when I was preparing for the show today. I read an article that indicated when women marry, their housework load increases by fifty percent, while the man’s decreases substantially from when he is single.

I hate housecleaning so much that years ago I purchased a fridge magnet which says, “My idea of housecleaning is to sweep the room with a glance!” So needless to say I only do it when I absolutely have to.

My married friends tell me I’m so lucky to be single. I tell them, they’re the lucky ones. I guess we’re both right!
