You probably know Phil Shreck as the friendly, knowledgeable meteorologist at KSFY. He is also a loving husband to wonderful Kristie, father of five great kids, friend to many, (including us, surprisingly!) and unbeknownst to many, (including us!) a force of volunteerism in our great city!

The Helpline Center and Meta Bank have named our friend Phil as their Volunteer of the Month for May 2015. And like so many unsung volunteers in Sioux Falls, Phil spends great amounts of his sparse free time doing great things for others.

He serves as a "Reading Buddy" once a week at Cleveland Elementary, mentors at Eugene Field, lectors at his church, spends Thursday and Friday mornings at Feeding South Dakota volunteering for the Food Bank and has become an advocate for Feeding South Dakota!

Phil will be honored at the Spirit of Volunteerism Banquet on May 5, 2015. If you'd like to follow in his footsteps and volunteer your time for your neighbors and community check out all the possibilities at helplinecenter.org.

I just have a couple of things to say:

  1. Phil - buddy! Take a nap, would ya!
  2. We and so many others are so very proud of you and proud to call you a friend!

Congrats Phil!
