Pierre Ranked One of the Best State Capitals to Live In

Did you know that only 17 of the 50 U.S. capitals are in the most populated cities within their respective states? They are a great place to visit and even a better place to live.

SmartAsset checked which state capitals are the best to live in based on unemployment rates, violent crime rates, property crime rates, the cost of living, and ‘fun and entertainment.’  For the third consecutive year, Pierre, South Dakota came in at number two.

According to their site:

"Pierre ranks as the second best U.S. state capital for the third year in a row. Over the years, its unemployment rate has fallen. At 2.2%, Pierre’s unemployment rate is now the lowest rate among state capitals.

South Dakota has one of the strongest economies in the country. Some of its major industries include agriculture, fishing and hunting."

 

As for the worst state capital to live in? You maybe surprised, but its Hartford, Connecticut.
